  • LG's Snapdragon-powered LU2300 Android handset gets official

This one's been floating around for a while now and just spotted in the wild last week, but LG has finally come clean with its new LU2300 Android handset, albeit in a somewhat roundabout way on its official UK blog. The biggest news is that LG has confirmed that the phone does indeed pack a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and Android 2.1, along with some other fairly impressive specs to match, including a 3.5-inch AMOLED capacitive display, a 5-megapixel camera, built-in WiFi, DivX support and a DMB TV tuner -- that last feature of which likely indicates that this one won't be available over here anytime soon. There's also still no indication of a price or a firm release date, although it will apparently be available in Korea sometime this month or next.

  • LG LX9500: LG unveils first full LED 3D TV LG has just unveiled the world’s first full LED 3D TV, the LX9500, in Korea. This means thinner 3D TVs (22.3mm) with a millionth in contrast ratios and higher response rates than the regular 3D TVs you’ve been seeing in malls and concept stores.

The LG LX9500 LED 3D TV will be sold under the Infinia series with sizes in the 47 and 55 inches.

Here’s the complete specs sent in by LG:

    3D TV (shutter glasses type)
    Full HD 1080p
Full LED Slim with Spot Control (Local Dimming)
INFINIA Design: Ultra Slim Depth, Narrow Bezel, Uni-layer, Uni-color
    10,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
    TruMotion 400Hz (480Hz)
    Picture Wizard II
Crystal Gradation with Varying Light (Facet)
    Invisible Speaker (10W + 10W + 5W)
    Infinite Sound
    Clear Voice II
    NetCast ( Broadband TV )
Skype (Video Call Function with optional Video Camera)
    Wireless AV Link
DLNA ready (with optional DLNA Dongle)
USB 2.0 (HD DivX, MP3, JPEG play, MPO)
    HDMI 1.4
    Intelligent Sensor
    Smart Energy Saving Plus
    ECO Flower

Unlike the previous LED TVs where the lighting comes from the sides (edge-type), the Infinia LX9500 series is fully backlit with as many as 1,200 LEDs on the 55″ model.

These will be initially available in Korea, then North America, Europe and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) in May 2010. There’s no mention of Asia but the release states “other key markets” so I am not sure if that includes the Philippines.

As for the price, it’s not official yet but it could be north of 4.7 million Korean Won (USD $4,100) just for the 47″ model.
